About!

Hey there, thanks for stopping by my blog!  Right, so here’s what you need to know:

Why?  Let’s see, I began this blog when studying abroad in England back in 2012.   My time spent in the UK was one of the best experiences of my life – traveling, meeting new people, taking part in new cultures, eating.  It began as both a way to keep family and friends involved and as a personal travel journal to look back on, but my approach quickly morphed with my desire to reach out and share with people everywhere, having been inspired by so many of you.

Who?  Not only did my time abroad solidify my passion for travel, history, and cultural exploration, but helped me realize a few others as well.  I love to write!  I aspire to be a writer, and I am a huge believer in following your passions.  And I suppose you should know that I am a huge nerd/geek, I have a burgeoning relationship with cooking and baking, a love of the outdoors, and a fascination with animation as a storytelling medium.

What?  With my blog I am hoping to learn more about myself, grow as a writer and photographer, share what I love, and hopefully entertain some people with life’s adventures along the way.  So here’s what you’ll probably find: posts about travel & events, recipes/food, life’s everyday adventures, and an ever increasing amount of geek culture (the Internet just keeps making it easier to be a nerd, and it’s way too much fun).

Where?  Anywhere, everywhere!  But mostly San Diego.

When?  Irrelevant.  Time isn’t a strict progression of cause to effect, remember?  Wibbly wobbly, time-y wimey.

How?  With too many distractions (I’m looking at you British pop culture), a few lolcats, and many a sheepish grin.

And that’s that. I’m just a girl with a thirst for life, humor, a good story, who sometimes participates in and makes stuff for fandoms when inspiration strikes.  I hope you enjoy The Adventure is Afoot, feel free to drop in and say hello!  You can also connect with me on tumblr, twitter, pinterest, and google+, where we can while away our precious time on the internetz together.

Cheers!

  3. Just found your blog, very cool stuff you got here! I also want to be a writer myself, but more along the lines of tech journalism, such as reporting about the new iPhone or a new Mac operating system. Keep up the good work!

    • That’s awesome – I think blogging is a great place to start for writing in general, and I know there’s a lot of interest/potential for the tech scene in the blogosphere. Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment, and best of luck to you with your blog as well! 🙂

  4. Just followed you on Twitter! I’m @dawnsam13, but also @Vicarious_Films
I notice that you occasionally write about women-centric geek projects – would you be interested in writing about us? We’re crowdfunding for a really cool project called “Her-POW! New Adventures of Vintage Heroines.” Check out our site here and let me know!

    • Thank you so much for your comment, and my apologies for the delay in response. If you’re still interested, I would love to write something for you. The project and ideas behind it sound wonderful and I’m currently working on setting up a more focused blog around the female perspective in geek culture that I would be a great fit to post to!
